Job Title: Asst. Manager – Legal
Reporting To: Regional CEO and will be overseen by the group’s General Counsel.
Type of Hire: Local
Location: Nairobi, Kenya
Gross Salary: KES 150,000 – KES 200,000 per month (negotiable)
Job Responsibilities:
Drafting, reviewing and vetting of litigation related documents (plaints, statement of claims, rejoinders, etc.);
Drafting, reviewing and vetting various kinds of commercial contracts, term sheets, etc.;
Drafting, reviewing and vetting various kinds of property contracts, term sheets, etc.;
Exposure to shareholders’ agreements, share purchase agreements, JV agreements and MOUs;
General legal correspondence such as legal notices, demand letters, etc.
Mandatory Requirements:
Minimum Bachelors / Post Graduate in Law;
Minimum experience of 2-3 years preferably with a law firm;
Previous experience in Retail / FMCG an added advantage.
Experience in dealing with matters related to general corporate/commercial laws (company law, property law, contract law, etc.); and
Knowledge / experience in attending court and arbitration hearings.
Preferred Skills:
Experience in liaising with government agencies for obtaining licenses, approvals, etc.;
Excellent communication skills – both verbal and oral (English);
Candidate should have good communication skills in the French language as well;
Strong interpersonal skills and highly presentable with professional demeanor;
Passionate towards work, self-motivated, takes initiative and responsibility; and
Membership with a professional body;
